NGU mini-reunion

Last week, Bloxy and I went to Greenville to celebrate our sweet friend, Lauren's birthday. It was so much fun to see everyone and meet a few new people. I really love these girls. It was such a blessing to see them and just be able to enjoy their company and hear about what God is doing in their lives.

We met up at Chicora Alley for some dinner and then went to Spill the Beans for dessert. So yum. Blair was in town for a few days and it was so nice to see her again. I really miss that girl. Also, awesome to see ole Meg's for the night. She drove up from Columbia to celebrate!

Here are a few of the gals after dinner w/Lauren wearing her crown and holding her wand!

The next night we made another special trip to meet the girls and to see Blair before she left. Bloxy and I had a meal at Barley's. I really love their VooDoo Pasta, but I restrained myself and just had one slice of pizza. Anyway, loved seeing them all again even if it was for a minute (since we got lost and couldn't find the church and missed the service and had to wait two hours before we could see them.) whew.

Eat Your Heart Out

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you might know that I like to do crazy diets from time to time to A. Lose Weight and B. See if I can finish them. What we have found is that I suck at them, but it still never stops me from trying another fad. I told my mom yesterday I'm going to be one of those women that try every diet out there... and what I've realized is, I AM ONE NOW.

Luckily, I'm not super unhealthy. I normally eat fairly well and in moderation. I am a sucker for fruits. I slack when it comes to bread and treats though. I don't drink soda or coffee. I am mainly a water girl and a gree tea drinker. That's a habit I've had for the past 4 years or so. I'll have Dr. Pepper every now and then (gotta have a little with pizza, ya know?!). I work out every now and then. We just got a new gym membership and our gym has a pool. Being our luck, our pool is closed for a week two weeks after we joined so this week we can't go to it. Classic, huh? So, since I can't go swim or work out there, I've started this 7 day diet to jump start my weight loss. It is keeping me from my typical bread and treats... and Peanut butter which I love, but so far so good. I'm only on day two, which isn't saying much since day one was so easy for me. Today I'm only eating veggies. See below for the schedule. I never really recommend diets that I do b/c they are crazy so don't do this b/c I am. You might die. Cody thinks I should be able to handle this one since it's only 7 days and most of the food I eat anyway... fruits and veggies and chicken! The girl's blog that I got this from used a rotisserie for her chicken day. Here is the link to the original blog... If you read the comments at the bottom, she gave more specifics. Anwyay, if you try it, let me know how much you lose!

Natural Face Cleaner

I have the worst skin. It gets so oily throughout the day. I hate wearing make up b/c it just makes it worse, but have to use it some to cover up the mess it looks like. I have used every kind of cleaner under the sun.

Recently, on pinterest I saw a natural face cleaner using olive oil and castor oil. Now, if you had to re-read that you are like me... who would add oil to their already oily face? Well, me. Apparently, the oil is the only thing that gets rid of the oil. My face has suffered from too harsh of cleaners, it really just needed a break and this was the perfect thing. My face isn't perfect, but it sure feels better since using this "wash " or whatever you'll call it. I do two parts castor oil to one part olive oil since my face is oily. If your face is try, use more olive oil and even out the portion if your face is normal. Massage it in at night on a "dry" face. Then, get a wash cloth and warm it up with warm water and lay it on your face like a mini-steam facial. Let it steep for a little bit and then gently rub away the oil. Do it at night so the oil has a chance to work overnight.

Crazy, huh?

Let me know if you try it and how it works.

I have also considered going shampoo free. I'll need about two weeks that I don't see anyone though if I'm going to do it since I look like a homeless person even one day after not washing. And I don't know why I'm on this natural kick, but I figure if I'm going to try to only eat healthy foods, why not use healthy products on my body, too. Makes sense, right? Don't know how long it'll last, but I'd like to see what works.

"I love the hummingbirds"

Sometimes people just want to talk to someone.

Cody and I live at and run a retreat and conference center for a college in SC. We get to host families visiting their kids, going to football games, speaking in chapel, etc. They are all so friendly and love staying here. This place is a home. It is comfy like your grandma's house. The mauve carpet is a comfort since it reminds me of the 80's. The people always seem to come back to the living room to chat with us. These are sweet moments that I listen closely, b/c I believe it's God's way of telling me something I need to know. You never know where these conversations will take you, but I love being a part of them.

we found love in a hopeless place

"Our hearts break when we think we have missed our destiny. We suffer over unfulfilled purpose. But God perfects our hearts when we suffer. He makes us humble and compassionate, and those are two traits we must have for success in the call He has for us."

Cody was suppose to enlist in the Navy two weeks ago today. Due to several things, he walked away from it. It was a huge decision for our family. I am so proud of him for having courage to go through this process and having the courage to walk away when he knew God gave him a clear answer. God had His hand on us the whole time. It was amazing going through this process and letting the Lord change us over and over again. I am also happy at how clearly the Lord answered our prayers. I am honestly more in love with my husband going through this process, too. The Lord is really blessing our marriage during this time and I know it's because for the first time in our adult lives we are fully relying on Him for EVERYTHING.

I read the other day that waiting can be hardest thing ever, but as christians waiting is the anticipation of what God is doing. We aren't standing still... we are constantly moving towards Him and His plan. It's a neat concept when you having a hard time with where you are in you life to realize that you are right where God wants you and if you are seeking Him and living your life with His mission in mind, you aren't standing still... you are being molded and changed moment by moment... so, you are moving. I cannot explain the peace that this brings to my heart.

Thank you friends that were praying with us during this process and those that prayed even though you had no idea what I was talking about. I'd love to tell you about all the things God is doing in our lives. So, call me maybe.
