Long Distance Friends

This week I've got to "see" two of my favorite gals in the whole world!

Brett Seay! She lives in Wake Forest, NC right now... She was our wedding photographer and in the midst of the wedding planning, we just became great friends. We went to college together and knew each other and got to be friends after I graduated, but grew to love each other during the wedding process. She is a great photographer and listener... and pretty funny. Check out her work on facebook  - www.facebook.com/brettseayphotography

Then, Emily and I got to Facetime with Blair! Blair and her husband, Mark (he's in the Navy) just moved back from Germany and moved to Colorado Spring. Seriously miss getting to randomly see her. She and Mark are great... we really do love when they come to town.

Clemson Walks...

Here are a few photos from my daily walks on campus at Clemson. It's been the perfect weather for walks. I wear my awesome sweats and a long sleeve tshirt and it's perfect. I put on my headphones and just wander around campus.

TIGERS!

Howard's Rock!

They call this Cardic Hill and I completely understand why after today!

LittleJohn Coliseum - My 2nd home!

My first week eating "clean"

So, I told you all that I was going to start eating healthy and well, so far so good. I've even started walking around campus at lunch. I just make myself get out of the office. It's nice for my wrist since my carpal tunnel is flaring up and my eyes hurt so bad in the afternoons from staring at the computer all day. It's helping with my migraines as well. I've lost only a couple of pounds so far, but I feel better. Better just because I'm finally doing something. It's also nice to have my close friends supporting me through this time. It really does take a village.

Here's a few photos from the week of food...

Fail to plan. Plan to fail. Seriously, it's not that hard to get this stuff ready for the day!

A typical breakfast: Dry Oats. Plain Greek Yogurt. Bananas. Honey. A little Pumpkin Spice on top.

Another Breakfast but with Strawberries. Yum.

Lunch so far is a salad with no dressing but with an avocado, orange bell peppers, orange tomatoes, red plum tomatos, carrots, spinach and some Rotisserie chicken.

Dinners: This is a Clean Turkey Chili
via The Gracious Pantry

Another Dinner with Brown Rice and Quinoa, Rotisserie Chicken, Cucumbers and a wonderful Sweet Potato. I loveeeee Sweet Potatoes.

This was dinner tonight - just a mixture of what I've already had this. Still great though.

So far, it really hasn't been that hard. When I want something sweet, I just go for the greek yogurt and some fruit. I eat an apple, banana, orange or grapefuit as snacks throughout the day as well. Anway, I am going to try a few more recipes on www.theGraciouspanty.com - It's a great resource!

The most mortifying experience ever...

This past week we were in Mississippi for Thanksgiving with my family. It was fun to be home. We brought Norah with us so it was just a fun trip. My Mom, Aunts and Uncles cooked up a feast as usual... with plenty to spare.

oh, the temptation...

Cody got to carve the turkeys!

Katy boo!

Mom is sporting her new Clemson shirt I got her!

Us with sweet baby Norah

And with Pawpaw who does a great "surprise face"

We met up with Amy, Bryn, the boys and Mr. Jerry for dinner at Cotton Blues in Hattiesburg. It was awesome. If you haven't been, you should go! It is a little pricey but great for a special occasion.

On Saturday, we were supposed to go home early, but decided to stay one more night. We headed to Meridian to go shopping. Here comes the mortifying part... While checking out at a store, the cashier greets us and then looks at us and says "oh, is this yall's first?" while looking at me... I WANTED TO DIE in that moment. If you didn't catch that she basically asked if I was pregnant. The worst thing you could ever say to a women... especially this one. I composed myself and simply said no. Then quickly made my way outside of the store to cry for a good 15 minutes. Thank God for a great husband that just held me and let me cry.

We had already discussed starting a new eating plan - "clean eating" and doing it when we got home. My friend, Jenn has been doing it for a few months now and looks great. I knew I didn't want to do another "diet" or take pills. I really want to eat healthy and be active. With my new job I have access to a gym so why not use it... AND Here's another mortifying moment, I asked a trainer here on campus to help make me a workout routine and somewhere in the middle of conversation, he mentions that he helped another coach lose weight after her pregnancy as well....TWICE IN 72 HOURS.... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?! So, needless to say I must make some changes...

What better way to start this change than with two people assuming you are pregnant?! So, this is the start of my journey. I will try to blog as much about it as I can, because I need to see the progress I've made and find encouragement in it.

If you haven't heard of clean eating, check it out. I'd also suggest watching Forks over Knives - it's a great documentary and super helpful.

I was tempted not to post about this experience and just talk about the new eating plan, but I really think I have to document it to make it real to me and to replay those moment for motivation. I never want to feel that feeling again.

Foxy Bloxy

Today I am thankful for Emily or Foxy Bloxy as I like to call her. We went to college together yet never even met the whole time we were there. We knew of each other and even had close mutual friends but for whatever reason never had one conversation. Back in 2009... er, 2010, she messaged me on facebook to let me know she was applying to SWU and had an interview. The day of her interview Cody and I took her to lunch in Central. It was so easy to talk to her and felt like we've always known each other. She got the job and we've been friends ever since.

We are polar opposites on many issues, but are very alike in many ways. We are like sisters that can make each other mad and be over it the next hour. She apologizes when she is wrong and I don't know why, but this makes me like her even more. There aren't many people like her.

The past few months have been a battle and she has been in the trenches with me. She was there through each job interview and rejection. She read almost all of my cover letters and helped me prepare my presentations. She heard me cry more than anyone. I am very cautious as to whom I let know the vulnerable side of me. I believe God knew I needed someone like her in my life during this season.

And people also think we are sisters/twins/same person.

Happy Monday!

Clearly, I'm terrible at blogging this month. I am so thankful for so much this month though. God is blessing us so much and we just have so much to be thankful for everyday.

Right now I am loving my new job. I am going to be doing so much and I'm slowly learning everything, but so far it's great. They are ordering CS6 for my computer and I am completely stoked. I will be designing a lot at this job each week for mail-outs and newsletters. It'll be fun to design something totally different than I've done in a while.

We had a game yesterday against PC. They lost by 3pts that were scored the LAST SECOND of the game with a 3pt shot. The ladies were crushed.

On Saturday we went to visit my in-laws to see everyone... especially our Norah. Her birthday is 11-11-11 so on Sunday she turned 1! We seriously miss her so much. I just wanted to hold her the whole time.

She was so excited to play with her daddy.

On Sunday, we went to Newspring. We are in the middle of the Eve & Adam series. It's so great for both women and men. Check it out online at www.newspring.cc  - you can watch live online on Sundays at 11am and 6pm!

We sat in the balcony and I got these two shots at the beginning of the service.
