Guest Blogger: Love Notes from the Fickle Monster, Part 4
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT Day!
It is just how I am feeling today. Fat. My students are being particularly irritating; I am exhausted, and I FEEL FAT. When I have such days, all I want to do is have my way with a bag of Dove milk chocolate or a carton of Sugar Free Bunny Tracks ice cream. I wouldn't mind a Number 1 Combo with a Diet Dr. Pepper from Chic-fil-a....with a brownie or ice dream cone. Moe's would be so nice too or a piece of pizza. Yikes, I'm getting the shakes! The aftermath of such an eating episode would produce far more negative feelings than I want to sort through and overcome.
Shall we discuss something different for now?
This whole process is centered on my body, the thing I sometimes hate and sometimes love, but rarely thank. I am blessed. I have a functioning form that moves when I think up the thought. This body sneezes when the seasons change. I have a body that gets a little tired when not rested properly and sweats when I do the StairMaster (I should devote one blog to this). I HAVE A BODY! Knees, elbows, nose, and toes, I have this precious, precious gift which I am rarely just thankful for inhabiting.
I am going to keep this short today! My play opens this evening, and I need to nap, roll my hair, and eat something that won't upset my excited stomach or make me feel like a chunk.
So, here is our challenge for the day: take a moment to marvel at your body. Wonder. Be amazed at your body! Be thankful for your working toes and lungs. Stand proudly on your flat feet. Be astonished by your eye lashes, ears, lips, skin, belly button, fingerprints, pinkies! Praise your Maker for the form He gave you. It is precious, friends. Just be thankful. Write a poem, sing a song, draw a picture in honor of this precious gift through which your life is lived!
It doesn't feel quite like a fat day anymore!
