Cheering my soul

Lately all I've been doing is working, cooking and going to cheerleading practice or something to do with the cheerleaders. Cody has been so wonderful in supporting me and the squad. This week we have had the phone-a-thon. The squad has a chance to win $1000 for raising the most money the school's Promise Fund. Cody came on Monday to help make phone calls. It was sweet.

So far we've raised almost $15,000 for the Promise Fund. They have been doing awesome. Cheerleaders have dominated every night. It is a luck of the draw though... anyone could take it away from us. Last night one of my girls got a $3000 donation. That is the largest yet, but there are 100k donations out there to be made so we're praying we get one.

Working with students is hard and rewarding. It's tough to remember sometimes that they are so young and haven't had as many experiences. I learn from them just as much as they learn from me. I hate to see them fail but it's necessary. They need to learn from their own mistakes and that is hard for me b/c I don't want them to experience hurts. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when we have kids.

I love them and am so excited everytime I'm with them. Keep us in your prayers. Cheerleading can be percieved in so many ways and I've had to change my view ot it. They are encouragers. They are to love and support and to edify. Ultimately that's what they do and when they lose that focus, we are no longer cheerleaders. My goal is to keep them focused on that goal. So pray for me too... it's a tough task even in my own life.

Have a good week!
