The past few weeks I've been trying to pray outside of myself. I've been such a selfish prayer for so long. I've been challenging myself to pray more for others and have been given many opportunities to do just that lately. Whether it's for my cheerleaders who have crazy drama going on or for random people that I work with, God it putting people in my life that need prayer.
I have a few prayer request for some special friends of mine that I hardly get to see, but I know would appreciate some prayers lifted up in their honor.
I met Katie Chance in 2003 at Camp Garaywa in Clinton, MS. We were both working at an all girls camp. She is over 6' and reminded me of my bff, Amy. We became instant friends and had so much fun that summer and have continued to stay in touch through the years. Over two years ago, she lost her job as a teacher due to the economy. She had just bought a house so she had to find a job. She started working for a casserole shop. Random, but apparently she loved it so much she opened her own shop.
The shop is located in Germantown, TN. Stop by and see her if you are near, but more importantly pray for her as she starts this new chapter in her life. The shop opened in December so it's still pretty new. I can't wait to go back to Memphis and visit her.
Another prayer request is for my friend, Jenn Odom. We met in college while I was making a film for a video class. (They called her Diego) We had only a few other interactions while in college. It's been after graduating that we've started to get to know each other. While working at NGU, I remember our office receiving a letter from her putting our development office in their place when they asked recent graduates for money. It was at the worst time in the economy and there were no jobs for graduates. It was just poor planning on the development office. They should have taken in consideration the fact that over half of their graduate were back home living with their parents. I don't remember what all the letter said, but I just became a huge fan of hers when I saw it. After that, she contacted me to design some artwork for an upcoming art/craft show she was going to be in. It was so fun to work with her even though it was such a simple job. She even gave me my first "tip" on paypal. I almost cried, b/c I thought it was so sweet that someone would over pay me. She has no idea about most of this stuff so I hope it's a happy surprise when she reads all this! ( Cheers, Jenn!) Anyway. She had a seizure this week and is going to the neurologist tomorrow. Please pray that it's nothing but a crazy fluk or that the doctors figure out the problem and fix it! I'm sure her hubby is super worried so pray for him too. I'm really happy that God is growing our friendship and we're going to see the Celtic Women this month so I don't want her to be hurt.... so maybe this is still a selfish prayer. :)
